50TH ANNIVERSARY KICK OFF EVENT
Urban Garden Adoption- Civic Center Park- Saturday, February 26th- 11am
Join the Grow Local Campaign, in partnership with the Denver Parks and Recreation, for a 'passing of the shovel' event to the RPCV's of Colorado. Celebrate this momentous occasion in Civic Park, discovering our adopted urban garden and learning more about the project. These gardens will be planted with the Volunteers of Outdoor Colorado and then maintained and harvested by the RPCV's of Colorado, May through October. The fresh produce we harvest will be delivered to a local shelter of our choice.
During the 50th Anniversary of Peace Corps, what better way to celebrate the Third Goal, than to commit to an on-going project that demonstrates our dedication to our community. We hope to continue the Grow Local Colorado goals by demonstrating the beauty of edible gardens, to inspire and encourage Denver citizens to grow more vegetable gardens, and to provide some healthy, locally grown produce to communities in need.
The Grow Local Colorado Campaign is a grassroots volunteer organization founded by representatives from Transition Denver, the Mile High Business Alliance, the Living Earth Center and Denver Botanic Gardens.
If you have questions, comments, or would like to volunteer for this ongoing project please contact Casey Burnette, Third Goal Coordinator, at caseandcoop@gmail.com or 303-330-2545
