Join us as we celebrate 50 years of promoting peace and friendship around the world!

Peace Corps was officially established on March 1, 1961. Since then, more than 200,000 Peace Corps volunteers have served in 139 host countries to work on issues ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation. Today, there are 8,655 volunteers and trainees in 77 countries.

Come celebrate Peace Corps’ 50th anniversary on Tuesday, March 1st, 2011!

Special birthday celebration to commemorate Peace Corps’ 50th anniversary.

Volunteer to Celebrate the Day
Volunteer with Returned Peace Corps Volunteers in small groups with local organizations to continue the legacy of service!

Activities include:
- Serving lunch at the Brooklyn Veteran’s Center (11:30 am – 2:00 pm)
- Sorting donations at the Food Bank for New York City warehouse in the Bronx (12:00 pm – 2:00 pm)
- Assisting City Year Volunteers with their after school program (2:00pm – 6:00 pm)
- Speaking at Peace Corps recruitment events at local colleges (times vary – let us know when you are available.)
